The band travels to Los Angeles to record at Jackson Browne's studio. David Bowie asks Stevie to play guitar on his album Let's Dance. David asks Stevie to join his band for the "Serious Moonlight Tour". Just before the tour left for the first show, Stevie quits due to contractual disputes. Apparently the contract put forth by David Bowie did not allow Stevie to talk about his own career or Double Trouble. The tour would have lasted a minimum of 12 months, which would have kept Stevie away from Double Trouble. Stevie had offered to pay Tommy and Chris out of his proceeds from the Bowie tour so they would have a source of income while Stevie was away. Stevie decides to go for broke with Double Trouble and abandons the Bowie tour.
